Love: What We All Need

Galatians 5:22

Pew Bible Pg. 948

I.  Love can be one of the most twisted words in life.

    A.  Knowing what love is not helps us understand what love is.      I Cor. 13:1-5

    B.  The world’s varied definitions cause confusion and destruction.

                                                                                                     I Cor. 2:9-16

II.  Love, the fruit of the Spirit, is what we desperately need.                    vs. 22

    A.  We know what love is because of God’s character.

                                                 Gen. 17:1-8; Hosea; Rom. 8:31-39; I Cor. 13:4-8

    B.  We know who love is because of Jesus.              Rom. 5:6-9, I John 4:9-10

III.  Love is what we are to produce toward one another.                           vs. 22

    A.  As God’s family, this is in our DNA.                              I John 4:7-8, 11-13

    B.  We are a billboard for others in our love.                            John 13:34-35

What is my definition of love?  Have I allowed my view to be distorted by the world?
